ParticipantThis is the moment I have been dreading.
We have a 1606W that has developed a fault. The machine can be set to a programmme; the water will start to flow and then after 30 seconds or so the this stops and the machine goes into the drain phase.
Any ideas of what may be the likely cause of this problem?

Sounds like it thinks there’s an overfill situation.
Blocked pressure hose or overfill pressure switch would be the first things to look at.

A local engineer (familiar with ISE) thinks that there is a problem with the Motor Control Unit but that this may be symptom of another fault in the machine.
I would much rather get the machine repaired (spares availability aside) than scrap it and fork out another £1k for a Miele.
Any thoughts on the matter from those much, much more knowledgable than me.

Possible.
I don’t know if we even have one, I’d need to ask or, raise a support ticket on the help desk and Dave will look for one for you.
If we have one at the old prices on stock it won’t be too bad price wise but, on the new prices from our Slovenian friends, not so much.

Really feel for people struggling with these machines.
Mine still plods on.
The very opposite of what people bought into and paid loads of cash for.
Such a shame.
At least a parts supply seems to be emerging (although costly and not cheap, cheap parts were another promise of the outfit at set up).December 17, 2015 at 5:35 pm #433515Jumty

I have been asked for the machine’s serial number.
Where is this on the machine?

White label stuck on inside of door.

The machine is seven years old and any label is long gone.

Age has nothing to do with it. 😉
Serial number on my 1606 is as good as new.Might be something on the back as well.

Problem resolved just in time for Christmas. Big thanks to Trevor at ACC.
The question now is: at £200+ a pop is it worth finding out what went wrong with the original MCU and seeing if it can be rectified cost-effectively?

The machine has gone U/S again.
On a wash cycle the machine fills and then stops; on the spin setting nothing happens. All the LEDs in the programme indicator are illuminated.
As the machine has a brand new MCU what else might be the cause of these problems?

Hi. We had lots of fun with our ise w288 which turned out to be the MCU.
Can you access the service menu and see if the machine will actuate the motor or spin the motor. On the 288 you switched it off, held one of the buttons, switched back on and pressed the button 3 times. On yours it might be 5 times. This accesses various service menus. If you can get the machine to move or spin then it means the motor is OK ish.
Although it won’t fix the issue it might help with your diagnostic.
From another post on here on how to access the service menu
