ParticipantI have an ISE 2 in a customers house, been in for about 4 weeks. It replaced a Hotpoint WM63 so I made a point of stressing the extra time needed for ‘A’ rated washes meant that the machine would be slower than the Hotpoint.
She has called us today to say that the number 7 cycle (30 minute, 25 degree) is taking 1 1/2 hours to complete. I’ve been out to see it and the water supply is good, the drain is clear (stand pipe). I always test every machine before they go out to make sure they are OK to avoid any such problems on delivery.
All the main components function fine; motor, heater, fill valve, drain pump. So all that’s left is the PCB. 30 minute cycle + 15 minutes…..OK, but not 1 1/2 hours…….
Any known issues with the ISE 2 PCB’s? I’ve had several comments from customers that the ISE 2 is very slow to cycle, but most just put up with it.
This customer lives in our village and has local clout (always the way! :rolls:) With many machines in the same and lesser price brackets doing quicker washes, the ISE 2 only has the edge on the warranty / repairability aspect.
This is not a rant, as I enjoy selling the whole ISE project. It’s really a need to get this machine above all others sorted quickly and finally.Hope someone can help!!

I hate these ones….
Basically, if it goes through all the programs without halting then it’s okay.
There’s a multitude of things that can cause it to go slower than advertised but I did, on the manual rewrite, say somewhere that the program times are totally estimated and not cast in tablets of stone delivered from a mountain by a prophet.
There’s certainly no issue with the PCB that could cause this whatsoever.
Question though, what’s a normal 40ËšC wash taking?

I’ll speak to her again tomorrow and find out. I can find no real concrete reason why it could be so slow, hence the question. I was personally going by the factory figures (the green and red list that was posted back along). It should be for the Quick wash = 30 minutes. She is going by the handbook times. There is such a large discrepancy between what is written and what is happening that it is difficult to explain away easily.
Just for reference, the “Mix wash” (cycle 9); is that a wash, rinse and fast spin as per the normal cottons cycles? If so, it may be worth suggesting using that as it is 40 degrees and 73 minutes. Thanks for the response, Ken.

Just a thought, is the c/x switching the appliance off at the (0) position after the wash cycle before reselecting a new program, as the control knob can be turned either way it may be registering the original cotton wash cycle?
Get her to reset it first then start the quick wash again. Also as these machines have a faster agitation, it maybe she is using too much detergent and the machine compensating for over foaming?
Check the inlet valves I have had one recently it fills on the initial pre wash ok, then hums on the main fill and just trickels in very slowly.

Mixed wash is reduced spin duration/speed AFAIK.
I would be prepared to put time aside and actually watch and time it myself if need be. Personally not had any complaints about ISE 2 programme times, now the ISE5 mk1, thats a different matter. 😉
