Hello, first post here, having been sent here by Dave at Whitegoods Spares.
I’ve got an ISE 5, about 8 years old, serial 00616808000493580014 with two problems:
It shows up an error code E05 when switched on and a programme selected. After about 10 minutes it then runs through the cycle as normal. I can’t find the code in the booklet. Any ideas what it means? (the pump has been checked for foreign bodies (£2.40 was retrieved) and the detergent drawer is reported to be free from crud.)

When it spins it sounds like it’s taking off (it used to be nice and quiet). It’s not reported to vibrate. What’s the likely cause? Bearings?

(As an added complication, the machine is at my estranged wife’s house, so first hand reports are hard to come by)

Are the faults described fixable by some one with an amount of mechanical aptitude? If no, where’s my nearest service tecnichian? The search thingy on the Whitegoods website came up empty handed. The machine is in RH10.

Does your machine have a digital display with yellow numerals?

If it does then F05 is a heater or ntc fault, neither are major problems. The bearings can be replaced , not expensive but quite a bit of work involved .

Thanks for that. It has a digital display, but the user says it’s green, not yellow.

Green, yellow, it’s all down to,perception. Is the display window a small black one that only displays large digits, or is it a larger pale display with multiple programme information details in the window?

Small black with yellow/green digits. So this means I need an NTC probe and/or a heater yes? And drum bearings. Is there an online manual on how to fit the various bits?

Thanks for your help so far.

No, you need to check the wiring to the heater and NTC first. It could just be a simple broken wire, if wiring is intact the heater and ntc need testing with a suitable multimeter or megger. I think there has been a link to the tech info posted, possibly in an ISE 10 thread. A bearing change is quite an involved job requiring complete drum removal. Not a bad job once you have done several. 🙂
