    Hi,

Following the demise of my ancient Hoover washing machine, I’ve more or less decided to take the plunge and buy an ISE. Now I’m just trying to decide between the 5 and the 10. All the posts I’ve read from ISE owners are positive, so I’m not sure whether it’s worth splashing out the extra £250 for the 10. Does anyone have any advice?

Am I right in thinking that the 5 costs £500 and the 10 is £750? I haven’t checked this with our local man yet, but these are the online prices inc. delivery although I did read another post which said the local agents didn’t charge the £50 for delivery.

    Thanks in advance,
    Jon.

Re: ISE 5 or ISE 10 buying advice

The ISE 5 will be £450 from your local agent for full five year parts & labour warranty. This is a very good machine, I have installed over 115 in just under two years and in the main they have been very reliable, the ISE10 however is a completely different kettle of fish. It is a very high quality machine that although fully guaranteed for 10 years will more than likely last at least 20, It is around £790 delivered by a local agent.

I installed my first ISE 10 tumble dryer just before Christmas, at what might appear to be a hefty £650.00. The customer has three year old Hotpoint washer & dryer, the Hotpoint dryer has been a constant source of trouble, the washer less so. Even so , after using the ISE10 dryer for just two days she phoned up and ordered an ISE10 washing machine for delivery in the new year, she said the ISE10 dryer oozes quality. 8)

So if cost is not an absolute overriding factor then you will not get a better machine for the money taking into account the service and spares at cost price that you will get from a local independent agent.

I think I posted this in the wrong forum, sorry – I’m a newbie 😕

Is there a way to move posts, or should I re-post in the washer forum?

Thanks for the info Jim – is that price of £790 for the 1600 spin machine? Do you know if there are still any 1400s left?

Another question – if I moved to another area would another agent carry out work under the guarantee? Is the guarantee transferrable to another person if I sell the machine for some reason?

    Thanks.
    Jon.

Re: ISE 5 or ISE 10 buying advice

    Hi Jon,

Yes I think that Jim meant the 1600 machines at £799 to be accurate. 😉

There are still some 1400 machines left, I think there will be stock of those till about the end of this month, beyond that I can’t say for sure or if they will be continued. What I can tell you is that once the stock in hand is cleared that it wil be at least 10 weeks before any more arrive from this point and that I doubt that there would be the deal that’s on them at the moment as it really is a one-off as it was an error.

The 1600 machines will likely be in stock end of this month/start of Feb. although I would guess at the start of Feb now TBH.

The warranty follows you although the underwriters, AXA, like most insurers like to know where you are so a simple notification to them of a new address is all that’s required. However, most people don’t do it o forget and it isn’t a problem o long as we can track back to the original address.

On a new owner I’m sure we were asked this before on an IE5 and it wasn’t a problem. I can’t recall what the protocol was for it but I’m sure that it has been done when someone emigrated and old the machine with their house. In any event I can’t see it being beyond the wit of man to sort that out should the need arise.

Re: ISE 5 or ISE 10 buying advice

Just to complete the thread, more or less: After a great deal of deliberation I ordered the ISE10 (1400 spin) from my local man last Tuesday for a breathtaking £734. Hopefully it should be with me by the end of this week.

I’m certainly looking forward to having clean clothes again 😉

    Thanks for your advice.
