The m/c was working other than for the leak I was trying to trace (probably succeeded). On re-assembly, running any wash program, the water does not shut off until the level reaches near the top of the drum when (I think it may be a manometer – pipe and two wires connected) detects a near overflow condition. At this point the m/c starts washing. I can’t work out how the m/c knows when it has added enough water for washing, for I think this is the problem. Either need to fix it or look for a new m/c. Thanks.
Additional. More research show the pressure gauge has 2 pairs of wires. So the one that is working is the overfill one. (Looking down on the connector) I shorted out the pair nearest the front of the m/c (so simulating enough water in the drum) and hey presto, the m/c went into a normal wash cycle. Looks like the pressure switch is duff. 😀
More likely to be a blockage, kink or tiny pinhole in the black rubber hose to the pressure switch. Especially if it has only happened since you touched it.
You are right. On closer inspection, the filler pressure hose has been worn by the drum movement over time. Please could you identify the correct spare pressure hose for me. Many thanks.
