ParticipantI’ve just had an ISE machine installed to replace an Indesit WI 121. It’s doing an empty wash at the moment to clear it out.
When I was researching replacement machines, I was interested in the ISE, but couldn’t find many user experiences on the internet. So i’m gonna chart its progress over the next couple of weeks, hopefully ending up with a thread that others thinking about getting one can use to help make up their minds.
First impressions are good. It’s not as noisy as the old Indesit, but has more buttons, which will need reading up about, even though the guy showed me what they all did.

Good luck with the new machine think you made a good a choice.
As i said before my aunt, friend and sister all have one, my sister did some of the testing of ISE where she had to time all the programmes, use all the functions etc and she was really impressed. The thing that impressed her most was the delay function she uses that all the time as she works shifts so she switches the machine up at night before she goes to bed, so it comes on in the morning before she has to go to work, she loves it. 😀

ParticipantThe engineer said to leave the spin knob on 1500 all the time, as delicate washes select their own speed anyway.
However, it doesn’t say this in the instruction booklet, and in section 5 says you should select the right speed for each program.
What’s the best thing to do?

On the delicate washes the spin speed selected will be the correct one for the fabric type if memory serves me. Believe it or not I’ve not used that function for about a year but Martin may well know, he did extensive testing and wrote a good chunk of the manual, as Sean is on holiday this week.
Is this the manual that was packed with the machine or the one sent to you?

It’s not the most professionally produced booklet. It’s been photocopied from a master, and has a number of spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.

Yeah we didn’t like either, that one is supplied by the factory, so we re-wrote it to be a bit more friendly. The new one should be with you shortly along with a guarantee certificate as well.

As kwatt says, the spin speed is automatically set by its respective programme setting (irrespective of the ‘Spin Speed Selector Knob’). That’s 1500rpm for cottons, 800rpm for synthetics and 600rpm for Woollens. 🙂

Thanks.
Why don’t you ask the factory to stop sending out that crappy instruction book?
Regardless of whether another one will arrive through the post, it’s hardly confidence filling, especially when you’ve just taken a punt and forked out £450 on a brand noone’s ever heard of.

Simple logistics I’m afraid that made it not possible. 🙁

It is a little basic isn’t it, that’s why we re-wrote it and it is available in .pdf format. 😉
As part of our on-going commitment of good customer support I am more than willing to email you a copy if you wish just let me know? 😀

Participant2 days in, and after 4 full loads, it’s (as you’d expect) working alright.
Although Which Online give it a ‘poor’ rating for noise, i’ve round it exceptionally quiet.
Wash times too are far quicker than quoted. A quick wash at 30 takes about an hour, and a normal wash at 30 about 90 mins. Which say that a normal was takes 2 hours and 27 mins.
I’m slightly bemused about the instruction manual situation. If I wanted something manufactured, surely i’d be able to get my own instruction manual shipped with the product.
Anyway, the timer function is great.
Only time will tell if this machine is going to live up to its promises.

Yeah, I know on the noise thing. :rolls:
But what can you do, that’s what Which thought so that’ll be that. It’s certainly way quieter than my old Blomberg (which is still struggling on) and virtually all the people that have been asked say that the machine is very quiet. Who knows, just one them things.
What happened on the manual was a bit of an error as we didn’t actually see the completed manual until just before the machines landed in the UK. We saw it, didn’t like and re-wrote it. What we didn’t have was time to do a re-write and get it out to the factory as well.
Added to which we were waiting for Ariel to do their bit as well, which took them longer than we anticipated.
So, we ended up with doing all the printing etc. here and, to be honest, it’s actually worked out better because as we learn what questions people ask we can add and change the manual if desired on every print run. The new ones that are now being sent out have had amendments made based on customer feedback. Personally I think that’s better.
But from mid-next month the new stock should have the new manual with every machine. It just takes so long sometimes to get people to catch up as they’re not used to doing things as fast as we like to work.

Anymore news on your usage of the ISe5. We have hired from ebay the ISE5 and so far so good its really good – simple instructions – well – didnt have any documentation – its pretty simple.
Only minor point is that its hard to know where the machine is in the cycle – I know it has the 3 lights – Ready, Wash, Spin – would be useful to know roughly how much Spin is left so can wait around and hang out – but this is pretty minor.
The hire comes with the same service/labour as expected. We are hiring until the ISE10 comes out.
