ISE Vestel 1600.

I have got a fussy customer complaining of a groaning noise. Turns out to be the top suspension springs but I am unable to get rid of it. I have tried general-purpose grease and three in one oil. Has any one had similar problems or got any ideas?

Never had that issue Mike on any of the ISE machines. 😕

Silicon or graphite grease (yes I know it’s horrid) would probably have worked best in that sort of situation though.

The graphite grease can work absolute wonders on suspension parts, even though it’s God awful messy stuff. 😉

Update for those interested. I had to subsequently do a bearing change on this machine. Removing the springs enabled me to get more grease at the point of contact. This seems to have solved the problem.

Sorry Mike, its a bit late, the beer, wine and a shot of Cointreau have kicked in, 8) Do you mean that you cured the noise from the springs with grease but have also had to do a main bearing change. 😕

Yes, that is correct. I think the customer has a condition where everything in her has to be just right, which includes the washing machine. About a week later she reported a different noise to the first. The machine is a rental so I swapped it out for a recon hotpoint. She complained that the hotpoint was worse so I had to get the ise back. On checking out the ise in the workshop I found the bearings just at the start of failure, normally I would have not done this for another six months but in this case it was best to do them before it went back out.
The machine has been out for a few weeks now with no noise from the customer. I don’t know if it was the bearings or the hotpoint that solved the problem.
