Hello chaps. Any advice on the following would be much appreciated!

    Machine details:
    ISE W256
    WM70.1
    Part 332656400

My wife went to do a load today and noticed that the panel lighting was flickering. She tried setting up her normal programme but there was no response. She called me and I observed flickering of the numeric display and the little LED indicators – bright-dim-bright-dim…. Machine non responsive. I tried cycling the power on the control panel and the mains supply. Eventually All LED indications died completely and at some point the tub starting filling up. I’ve drained the tub. Still a dead panel. Checked 240V on N and L on the modular connector that plugs in to the board, it is there. When I removed the control panel I noticed a small puddle of water in it , no doubt from an occasionally floody worktop that is next to the sink. Dried it out. Everything disconnected and inspected…looks OK. No bulging capacitors.no signs of contamination on the board.

Is this likely to be a controller issue – could another condition make the panel blank? A new control board is £190 so I need to think very carefully before my next steps!

    Re: ISE W256 no display

Very quick update before I go to work.

I checked the service manual and played with some button presses- Namely pressing the door opening button followed by the power switch for a full reset (Ithink…sorry but I’m in a rush) I now have a situation where if I hold the power button in I can hear a relay (I assume) click on the control panel and then the panel lights up normally with programmes being selectable. However, the moment I release the power button , the panel switches off. I’ll . It is only a momentary switch so I am perhaps guessing that one of those power relays on the board is perhaps misbehaving? Will investigate further tomorrow

Ah , leaving the machine to rest overnight has done the world of good. Things seem to be working. I thought the power switch was a momentary one but now it is working it obviously isn’t. Unfortunately I managed to snap one of the plastic tabs so the panel is now sitting a little loose, but I can live with that. I also got side-tracked by an F11 code traced to a connector hanging off the control board. All seems good for now 🙂
