    Hi,
We bought an ISE W256 back when they were the “bee’s knees”, and it has seen us through 2 sporty boys growing up. The machine has been very reliable but has recently started misbehaving.
The spin cycle causes a very loud vibration noise, especially at 1600rpm, and the vibration noises seem to be coming from the door moving back and forth by 2-3mm, to make a “small banging” noise against the chassis, also resulting in a slight leak of liquids that accumulate on the door glass during the spin cycle. My guess is that a few things are going here:
    – The dampers might be worn to allow excessive vibrations
    – The door locking mechanism might be worn to allow the 2-3mm play
    – The door seal might be getting hard from age (original seal still in place)

While the machine is getting on in age, I am still keen to see if I can repair it as that was one of the primary reasons for buying it in the first place after a bad experience with Hoover… Everything else on the machine still works

    Can anyone confirm my diagnosis?

Are the spare parts available (dampers, lock and seal), and if so how/where do I get them?

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks Dave, I have seen a few spares in the shop, but I am also after confirmation of my diagnosis before spending the better part of £200 on replacing the parts mentioned. Any ideas?

you can check the dampers by taking the lid off and pressing on the drum hard and see if you can bounce it. the dampers should resist the movement and make it impossible but if you can build up a movement up and down then they are likely shot

The dampers seem to allow more bouncing than they should, are these the correct replacement?

That is the correct damper kit. Are the two thin restraint springs still in place on top of the drum?

Thanks for confirming the part, yes the restraint springs are still in place. Do you think I need a new door seal as well as the dampers?

I never had to change a door seal but have heard of the odd one leaking. Might best to wait until you have replaced the suspension units first.
