ISE W256W – Child Lock?

All,

Just about to bite the bullet on a new W256W…. everything about it ticks all the right boxes for me, but the one little thing I can’t seem to find in the current product description is whether it has a child lock. It mentions a child-safe door… but I am talking about a child-lock for the controls.

Anyone know?

There isn’t a control to lock it out as such but you’ve go to be going some to get it to change as you’d have to stop it, then change it, then start it again. Essentially it locks itself out pretty much as standard.

Nuts… that’s disappointing 🙁 . It’s not only when in use that I need it, as the little one likes to push buttons even when it’s off. The LG I am replacing has a lock where you push 2 buttons for a couple seconds and it locks out all the controls, whether the machine is in use or not.

I found something referred to as the “KidLock Anti-Child system” on this page for the w288eco:

Is this what I am after, and does this mean I would be looking at a few hundred more £££ to get it?

I guess the ultimate child-lock is the mains switch. And of course we are “educating” the little one to NOT push the buttons… but there’s only so much you can expect from an 18 month old that loves buttons!

Even when the washing machine was sat idle a child would have to close the door, select a program, or at least then press start for anything to happen.

If you press the power off button you introduce yet another step in that.

You can also set the door not to automatically open which, in effect, locks the machine out until the door is opened manually IIRC.

It’d be unlikely that an 18 month old would be able to do all that to get round it I should think.

Decided to go with the w288eco in the end, placed my order yesterday, was contacted last night to arrange delivery for Monday. Thanks for your help in this decision.
