ParticipantJust 4 years old and without warning the drum has stopped turning in any program. All the lights come on and change appropriately, pump is pumping, so having found my £899 investment has no guarantee 😥 I took the back off it for a cursory first look. Everything looks OK, belt good, no carbon dust anywhere (is it an induction motor? – its a French made motor unit) nothing obvious visually, all looks virtually brand new, just that the motor doesn’t move, doesn’t even flinch when the spin program started. I have a DVM and some electrical repair experience.
Any thoughts as where to look next? (I’m starting to think motor relay on control board) or common problems? Best place for any remaining spares? or any second hand parts out there? Anyone got a circuit diagram of the MCU should I need to get it out and fault it? (I have’n’t checked to see if volts are coming to the motor yet, that’ll be the next step). I have PDF’d the general wiring diagram. NB1 I’ve looked at Halftones similar problem, connector appears to be OK and drum still doesn’t rotate, but no volts appear to be going to the motor on spin cycle. NB2 I’ve downloaded the docs from this site- many thanks

It is an induction motor.
Check the motor itself, that it turns okay with the belt off.
Check the connections.
Then you’re into the motor and inverter board after that.

Thanks, yes motor turns easily with belt off (or on) connections appear OK, although I always disliked those push on cct board edge connectors…. anyone out there with a known working (& spare) secondhand inverter board?

Its been suggested the door switch has failed and created a short, this has blown two tracks close to the door connector terminals on the control board. On the MCU The EPCOS NTC60 TH1 protection thermistor marked ‘0950’, adgjacent to the power rectifier diodes – GBU10J (two of them) has also blown. I’ve ordered a new MCU and door switch but want to repair the existing MCU (@£100 a time) but I cannot identify the value of this thermistor from online searches. I’m desperate to repair this, any old contacts on the design side? Door switch looks difficult to replace any tips?

We don’t get board level component specs. Unless someone can have a look at one for you as I don’t have one to do that.
Door lock is relatively straightforward to change once you get access.

What should happen now is that an insurance backed warranty kicks in, it was purchased in the purchase fee when the washer was bought.
It remains scandalous that it doesn’t.

Yep, but sadly I have to deal with the situation ‘as is’, not where I’d like it to be. If I learn anything through the process of attempting the repair I’ll post it. The trail of burnt out tracks points to the door lock, but I’m not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} convinced, currently I’m still awaiting parts ordered on the 12/2, that I thought were in stock, just chased with an e-mail.

Sadly at 12/04 (~2 months after initial order) parts still not in from Slovenia so washing mountain forces me to cancel parts order, scrap £899 of generally excellent condition washing machine after only 4 years and buy another machine.
I’m open to offers for the working parts (i.e. anything but motor control board/control PCB/door switch that are suspect) that I will recover from the machine & keep in the garage for a short while, you may spot them on ebay shortly 🙁April 11, 2015 at 10:59 pm #424569admin
