ParticipantOur ISE 10 is now quite regularly displaying a F3 fault code. Symptoms include incomplete cycles, failure to complete spins and failure to spin.
Could someone advise what the likely root cause is & whether we should be getting someone in to look at this?
Would this be something coverered under the Guarantee?
Thanks

Hi,
Have you reduced the detergent use?
Only other thing that at random is something stuck in the pump or drain hose.

Cant say we’ve reduced detergent usage – but I will check with my wife how much. We tend to use the M&S detergent tabs. Either half a tab or a full tab depending on the load.
Having seen previous posts where detergent usage is a factor is it fair to say that reducing ‘quick wash’ usage & maintainance washes might also be a factor?

Yup, detergent overfoaming is the No.1 cause of this sort of behaviour and, it doesn’t just affect ISE. 😉
More here. It is more of an issue in soft water areas over hard, but it can still happen under most any conditions.
Bear in mind that quick washes are for refreshing more than anything else and a full tab on that wouldn’t be advisable. More on the wash process and the perils of quick washes here.
Maintenance washes are important but not as critical on the 10. The reason is that it’s a lot less susceptible to the usual plethora of problems because it has a stainless outer tank, which most don’t theses days, they’re mostly plastic. It will however get rid of any residues that happen to be lingering. To prove if there is or isn’t overdosing going on you can runs a simple test, put the machine on with no load and no detergent and, if you see suds, someone’s been using too much. 😉

Update –
Maintainance wash run at 95 degrees…only the slightest hint of suds, but I drained it down beforehand & discovered a lost gold ring in the inspection chamber at the front …could that have been the cause of the problem?
