ParticipantI use to own an ASKO back in Australia, I loved it. Very cleaver machine, extremely water efficient and rock solid.
I was shocked when I found that ASKO wasn’t sold here in the UK. But behold you can at least buy a ISE10.
Can someone tell me why the only available model is the ISE10? -which I believe is the ASKO W6252.
Thanks,
DrT

I received a reply from ASKO regarding my initial query as to why ASKO was not sold in the UK. They said the ASKO brand is sold as Maytag. It’s true, both washers are the same, ISE and Maytag.
If you look at the MAF9501AEW model, it’s the same as the ISE10.
http://www.maytag.co.uk/ProductPages/60Wet.aspxSo what’s the difference I wonder. I’m beginning to think whether one of them is not made by ASKO in Sweden. Mmmm

No secret that the ISE 10 is built for us in Sweden by ASKO. http://tinyurl.com/36cwnp
The main difference between that and a Maytag is not the machine itself but the backup that lies behind the ISE10.

Hi
We make no secret of the fact that the ISE 10 is made in Sweden by Asko.
Asko like many other producers make for many brands for many people.
For example Bosch, Whirlpool and White Knight tumble dryers are all made by the same people in Halifax, we would rather have Asko make ours.Maytag and ourselves sell Askos in the UK through different channels to market and with different business models.
I can not speak for Maytag but ISE’s philosophy is to match high product quality with an equivalently high level of service.
Therefore we chose to guarantee the ISE10 for 10 years via Axa, we only sell through repairers who can give a high level of back up to the customers they supply and we do not make money on spare parts thus making out of guarantee repairs economic and extending product lifespan.
We believe this all inclusive package makes the ISE 10 at £799 inc V.A.T. great value for money. It is then up to the customer what they purchase and who they purchase from.
I hope this clarification is helpful.

Thanks for clearing that up everyone.
Although I have 2 more questions. I’d like to check the details of the ISE10 on the ASKO website, can someone tell me which model I should be looking at? Is it the W6252?
And finally, what about the new ASKO W6983, are we likely to see it any time soon in the UK?Thanks again..

KeymasterHi DrT,
We can’t use the Asko website as such because the specs differ slightly to the UK version that ISE specify.
The new machines, maybe sometime but as yet no ETA for a UK version.

Thanks again for the input.
I’ve already gone through the details on the ISE website re the ISE10. What I’d like to see is more on the features (programs & options) rather than the build and technology –I already know how great the machine is. What would be the best option, is there a manual that I can download or do I need to go into a store?
How close is the US model W6222?

Hi DrT,
We don’t have information on many Asko products outside of the ISE range. We have no knowledge of the US models at all other than the mechanics of them.
TBH we have very limited info on the Maytag range.

Bottom line is before I go ahead and buy the ISE10 I’d like to know more about the programs and options.
The reason I’m making comparisons is due to the lack of information for these details on the ISE website.
I believe as a customer I prefer to make an informative decision. It seems the only way to get my answers is to see one up close. Any available in store at the moment in the Hertfordshire area?
Thanks.
