Hi all
My ISE10 washing machine has just broken – not spinning properly.
I have drained it and got out a 10p but it still will not spin fast.
I have just found out they stopped trading December 2014 and so want to know if it is possible to find a repairer and if the repairer will be able to get spare parts?
or should i just go and buy a new machine!!
I have had 6 good years out of the machine and am very sad to see they have stopped trading. If possible i would like to get the machine fixed and hope i can get another few years out of it.. I know i will have to pay for the repair but it has been a good machine and i would like to continue to get more use out of it.

Search the find me an engineer on this site you should still be able to get it repaired.

I suppose i need a ballpark figure of how much it will cost to get someone to come out and look at it – does anyone have any ideas?
and then if the parts are not available am i wasting my time?
It will not spin fast – does anyone have any idea what that might mean? and what parts might be needed?

I don’t want to pay £150 for a call out charge to find i need a new part that is not available and need a new washer anyway… i feel stuck in limbo at the moment not sure what to do..

well the old ISE 10 machine is now going to the tip – it’s sad but i can’t get it repaired,
i think it is an electrical fault as the electrics switch off when it tries to spin.
Th engineer i spoke to did not seem to know much about ISE machines, he asked me how old it was and when i said over 6 years he told me that washing machines were only expected to last about 3 so it was not worth repairing….. he obviously did not know about the ISE 10 machines and that i had been expecting it to go on for 10 years…he had no idea how to get parts for my machine and so i am having to get rid of it.
It’s a pity no one is collecting the old machines to use for spares if needed for others…
I have decided to get a cheap machine for now as we are skint and have no spare cash to buy a decent machine, let’s see how long it lasts! In the mean time I will save up and do some research to see what is the best thing to buy for the longterm…

I think he may well have known ISE machines. Stating a product will last 10 yrs and actually lasting 10 yrs are two very different creatures. Since ISE has gone and so it seems the warranty as well it’s worth learning that.

However, as ASKO machines more often than not last 15 to 20 years and more perhaps he didn’t know what he was talking about.

The old how long will it last question, always misguided, misjudged and misunderstood. In my opinion most Asko machines will need work by three yrs, how long a person keeps repairing it is subjective. It’s life will end when parts cease to be available. How long an appliance will work before its 1st repair again depends on many factors, but having seen a few brands testing results 3 yrs would be about right for minor parts.

I reckon you could easily get 99p for it on eBay and not be troubled with having to take it to the tip. 💡

That’s your ‘opinion’. but in my ‘experience’ of the 30 or more ISE 10’s that I have installed over the last six years only one has had a genuine repair, and that was due to very heavy use. All the other calls have been due to user error or misuse.

i am in DE4 Derbyshire…..
what is classed as heavy use ?- i do one wash every day as i have kids, sports kits, and work on a farm, so lots of mud to deal with… two washes on some days when i change sheets, or there are more sports kits / towels…

The scrapping of these machines with the promise of longevity and the purchase of a solid warranty just a distant memory.

Parts can be or, should be able to be, ordered by any distributor with a Gorenje account as, it’s changed to Gorenje now since they bought Asko.
I do not have access to a Gorenje account so do not know what the state of play is with the new owner of the business. You would have to contact Gorenje for more information or who that their preferred current spares distributor is for the UK now.
We did find that spares through a UK supplier was more than three times the cost price as opposed to when it was ISE direct to factory when we looked into one part a few weeks ago.
No idea why, only Gorenje would be able to explain I expect.
