ParticipantHello all, I’m new to the forum and after a bit of advice. I found this forum after doing a search for a semi-commecial washer on google.
I would like a semi-commercial washing machine for a B&B. I am interested in the ISE10 washer after going on iseappliances.co.uk However the washer looks just like an Asko. I had an Asko several years ago and after forking out a small fortune it was not upto the job. Could you tell me is the ISE10 just an Asko badged up as it looks similar. This way I will not be wasting my money again.
Also could anyone recommend a 7-8kg front loading washer that is semi-commercial and roughly the same size as a domestic washer. My washer that has packed up is a JLA6 which although it is the mutts nuts, it is only a 6kg load. I want a few kg more.
Thanks.

The ISE 10 is an Asko based machine and comes with a three year parts & labour warranty for semi commercial use, it has a 6kg load.
As far a 7-8kg conventional sized machine go a read of THIS article will explain why that is not such a good idea.
Apart from JLA there is a company called Armstrongs who specialise in commercial appliances.

Thank you very much for your help ‘iadom’. The Asko washer may be ok for domestic but as soon as you put it in a commercial premises it can’t cope, so i’m afraid that i’m back to square one again. I see your point about the 7-8kg load washers compared to a 6kg load washers.
I will check out the company that you have posted a link for.
Kind Regards

Only trouble it`s not robust enough for a commercial application and you only get a one year warranty.
Apart from Iadoms suggestion the only other manufacturer I can think of would be Miele commercial appliances.HTH 🙂

Fair comment Don but the OP only has a B&B and that Bosch will give him years of good service at 1/3rd the price of a Miele. He could buy 2 and keep the 2nd boxed up and ready for when No1 machine gives up the ghost and still be quids in…….
Just a thought and in these hard times ahead B&B’s have to ‘cut their cloak’ and all that like we all do……
Beside Miele service is pretty cr*p round here…..

Fair comment to you to Martin 😀 8)
When I was rereading the post I came to the conclusion that if the Asko wasn`t up to the job then a Bosch certainly wasn`t going to be either.
The Miele while not cheap would save that buy cheap buy twice scenario from happening.
Just a thought 😉

Kind RegardsJames Armstrong sell their version of the Asko washer as a commercial machine, they badge it the Primus.
Go for the ISE10, built like a tank you won’t be disapointed.July 16, 2010 at 7:53 pm #325444locksmithing

Thank you all for your comments and help.
I have always had one commercial appliance (mainly for towels), and one domestic by the side. I wouldn’t touch a Bosch again. I once had an WF2001 (I think) which lasted me 12 years and out lived the commercial by it’s side. When that gave up the ghost. I thought that I would stick with Bosch. They are now plastic crap and I had 2 last over the next 6 years. Never again.
Thought that I would try to use a British brand and then chose a hotpoint. Big mistake. The bearings went after 18months. Hotpoint said you can’t change the bearings only the whole big drum thing. Ludicrous!!! Again rip off. Never again.
Had a miele but found the parts and charge to get it repaired very expensive by miele. Started to use a local company and then sold it to the local appliance repair company in the end to help cover the large bill, when they said a control board was required at 390 quid for the board alone. Same as before never again.
Tried calling armstongs earlier and I would give them 0/10 for attitude and customer service. The lady and then the man I spoke to both had the manners of a pig. Horrible rude people. Not a pleasant experience. Put the phone down after 10mins.Still searching for the right washer. So any ideas please give me a shout.
Thanks again all.

Hi,
Is there anyway you could make space for a top loader? Maytag make some machines for heavy duty applications, and have a wash time of about 30 minutes, some have higher than normal capacitys too. There are downsides though, high water use and these machines do not have a heater so your hot water supply has to be good enough or the wash results may be compramised.
This may be a better option than Asko or Miele etc.
I know where you are coming from with machines not lasting, my parents have the same problem, they wash about 20 loads a week and machines will not take that punishment. They could finish the best domestic Miele in less than 5 years (designed for 20 years they say, what they don’t tell you is thats equates to only 4 loads a week)! However they have a decade old Siltal which has only had bearings, belt, brushes and a new pump. I would recommend Siltal to you on personal experience, but wouldn’t because they like Bosch do not make machines of the quality they used to and my parents machine may be a fluke, plus it is a domestic machine!! 😕
As far as I know they are going to replace with Schulthess/JLA 6 (same thing) when the Siltal packs up for good. The WFF2001 was a good machine. I have the previous model the WFF2000 now 16 years old and still runs properly, I too think modern Bosch are not a patch on these machines.
HTH,
Oliver.

Hi Locksmithing,
The first thing we’d really need to know in order to advise as accurately as possible is, what is it you generally wash and how often?
You can do the big load thing but, not yet. 😉
There are new machines coming that overcome the traditional problems but you won’t see them for a few months.
Also, often what is claimed as being a particular size in kg simply isn’t true. I’ve seen some test data in the past week that is, frankly, shocking as many of the claims about load size are, shall we say, at best disingenuous. What you really want to know is the drum volume when the door is closed as many will make a claim but not include the indentation of the door glass.
Sad I know but it is what it is.
K.
