    Hi all!

I have here an ISE2 washing machine with a problem….
Hopefully you can help me out??
It gives an error code as soon as I turn it on.

Start pause and program end both flash. This indicates a heater or heat sensor error. The heater reads a resistance of 29 ohms. The sensor reads a resistance of 15Kohms (I temporarily replaced it with another sensor that I had laying around which reads 6 Kohms at room temperature just to see if there was any change in behaviour at all. Which there wasn’t) None of the wires read any resistance to ground and I measured also with an impedance meter. When switched on, all it does is give off the error code and I can hear clicking. It sounds like relays clicking on the PCB right behind the controls. Quite fast/erratic/random. It can stop for 5 or 10 seconds and will then randomly click again.

for error codes see here: (page 86 and 87)

(in this case it is error code 5)

Does anyone have an suggestion what to do/try next? I seem to be stuck… 😀

    Thanks so much!

have you checked wires from board to sensor ?

    Hi Dave, thanks for replying.
Yes that’s all checked. the sensor and the heater itself… all good

well from what i can see this error can also be the result of the heater not being energised. have you checked the board. there will be a dedicated relay on the board. the solder contacts can fail and so can the relay

Hi it looks like there is a dedicated relay. The thing is, the wire to the hearing element has the red round pressure switch at the top of the machine in series with it. With no water/pressure, it makes no contact. That would be a normal situation right? As it should be?

So why would it say there is no connection, while under normal circumstances there shouldnt be in the first place?

so does this error come on as soon as you switch on or 10 mins into a programme ?

Hi, as soon as the washing machine is turned on

more likley a sensor issue then or the board

Hmm the sensor is ok i think, i measured that from the plug on the pcb, and switched the sensor itself out, no difference.
Today I’ll take the board out. See if there is some clear indication of wear/burn/damage on it and also check the relays anyway.

Have you got any other advice on the board itself what to do/check?

    Thanks!

checked and cant find any specs on the sensor

normally we can find a resistance value for a given temperature

Hi Dave, thanks for your reply! I have an update…

Even with all the connectors disconnected (except mains power) the PCB still gives the exact same error

Start pause and program end start flashing

Before they start flashing, program ready flashes twice as soon as the power comes on. This also happened before.
After less then one second it goes into error mode 5: Start pause and program end both flashing.

    Any suggestions?

does not mean a lot. unit may do a self check on switch on, and with sensor disconnected it would pick that up

    you could try one thing

reconnect sensor and everthing else but disconnect main heater wires

long shot but it does begin to sound like a faulty board

Hi there, i understand, it’s just that it might have been a bit of a coincidence that with all connectors disconnected… error 5 would be the default error to display… anyway.. i connected everything except heater, but no difference. the sensor reads 15K even connected to the pcb (in other words: no wiring error)..

I could maybe clean the PCB? some citrus detergent, scrub, rinse and dry with compressed air or maybe buy a second hand board.
I found one online which is slightly different. (a relay is just shorted and a pot installed where mine has none)
I have v017 and the online one is v004. I would not know how to tell this would be programmed totally different and not suitable at all or if this is just a earlier type or something

See next post for pics for my pcb and this link for pcb up for sale

unless board is off identical machine with similar production date then it will probably have different software

cant see anything wrong in your board pics. to be honest i did not expect to
