ModeratorJust read the tirade from pto in the Washing Machine forum.
My last ISE5-2, Vestel produced machine was installed over 3 and a half years ago but I do have around 30 of these on my area that are all still under warranty.
Is it true that the inverter board is NLA?

Officially, yes.
From what I can gather the original manufacturer of the inverter card went pop and Vestel tried and failed to get an alternative but, detail is sketchy.
This bit is speculation…
Given that we were one of a handful of people that actually ordered the much higher spec washers they couldn’t give a rat’s a$$ about it really and simply made them NLA despite there being a load out there in the field.
What’s even more annoying is that we specifically told Vestel when we ordered these machines that they would carry a five year warranty and that spare had to be available for that period.
Of course we haven’t done any business with them since 2008 pretty much and most of the staff there at the time have moved on so, nobody cares.
The insurer has been replacing the machines in some cases, in others we haven’t been told the outcome.
Steve (Aqualectric) was trying to get EMW (IIRC) to rebuild the boards so that it shouldn’t be a long term problem but, nonetheless bl00dy annoying.
Hence we’ve been asking for any failed boards back so we can rework them. If anyone has any we’d be happy to get them back, working or not.

I shouldn’t really be tempting fate but to date I have only had one inverter board fail and that one was a few years ago on a machine that was only months old at the time.

No, to be fair they very, very rarely fail.
I’m probably tempting fate but, on the whole the 5-2 was a decent machine. Although I did spec the highest level possible in their range.

I think I did save the old board but it was over three years ago, do you want me to see if I can find it?

So very very few people knew of this position regarding Vestel then.
Interesting given a certain WP’s intimate knowledge of that manufacturer and their dislike of this site.
I am even more convinced this is a deliberate attempt to cause trouble now.
