ParticipantHello all,
I just came back from a holiday, and my dishwasher has been having issues after running a couple of cycles without any issues.
Here is the information on what’s happening:
- After starting a cycle, the machine will run for ~1 minute and then the circuit breaker will kill the power to the kitchen
- The only way to select a program, is to power the machine on, while selecting the program button. Toggling the power on/off while keeping the program button press will go through the options for the programs.
- There are sounds of water drainage through the tube connected to the sink
- After the machine runs for the brief minute, the filter holder fills up with water
- The filter is clean
- Water tap is on
Any thoughts on what the defective part may be?
I tried calling TEKA support, but realized the company is out of business…
Any help is greatly appreciated.

ParticipantThanks for your response electrofix!
Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot further whether it is indeed the heater? Furthermore, is replacing the heater something that is user-accessible?
Thanks again for your response.

Moderatorthe heater is in the base of the machine in with the motor and works
I cannot say which type it is because i cannot see the model you have listed so it may be wrong
this heater came up as fitting some Teka model but cant say it will fit yours
https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/hs81596-compatible-dishwasher-heating-elementto check its the heater you would have to locate it and disconnect it, then run the unit to see if it trips
if yes its not the heater, if no you need to replace itDave

ParticipantGreat, thanks electrofix!
I disconnected the heater element, and the machine now correctly cycles. I will purchase it, replace it and let you know how it goes.
Thanks again for your help.

ParticipantApologies electrofix, I had written the incorrect model name. The dishwasher is actually the TEKA DW6 40 FI.
However, I still cannot locate the heating element for this model. Do you think any of these two could be compatible?

https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/0120800355-dishwasher-heating-element-8279Neither of them list the DW6 40FI as a compatible model, but it looks very similar.
