ParticipantI was unfortunate enough today to come across a 13 month old Hoover HSC170 Condenser Dryer that was making a ‘orrible noise (like most Candy/Hoovers do anyway).
I pointed out to the customer that most of the lettering was missing from the control panel and had she been using cleaning agents or something?
“No she says, they just rub off with your finger!” and proceeded to demonstrate by rubbing her finger lightly on the timer dial numbers and they simply rubbed off! “It doesn’t matter much to me, she said, as long as I don’t rub off the numbering between 45 and 60 minutes ‘cos I always set my dryer on either one!”
Unbelievable load of rubbish these dryers are and the control panel words and numbers are worse than the old Letraset kits used to be (remember them?) 😕

KeymasterGet the customer to put clear nail varnish over it and it forms a hard coating that won’t rub off and the letters won’t either.
Doesn’t work on SS.

K.Test in a small inconspicuous area 1st though. Nail varnish will melt some plastics.

Was there by any chance a boiler in the same room?.
I’ve had the same problem on a few of our machines. And there has been a boiler in the same room. Dunno why it happens though 😕

I get it a lot on Smeg cooker facias I wondered about laser printing the symbols on to an adhesive transparency and then cutting them out and sticking them on .
Also used to happen on the Servis M3022 all the timeLawrence
