I can’t quite get to grips with SD’s actual role.

    The money ?

Must admit, I thought the £69 was ALL-IN.

    Just read the site properly.

    Thought it unrealistic.

Yup, I read it that way too at first but quickly spotted the caveat, it is reasonably clear I suppose that it doesn’t include spares. I can however see how punters would get the wrong impression as they won’t read past the headlines.

But then I did dig into it to see what they were saying. 😉

    I forgot to say…

Had a bit of a laugh today, a call for a De Dietrich in Tunbridge Wells through the engineer search that couldn’t find a home. Forwarded it to Bill at Fagor and he came back with, it’s Respond Services that are the agents.

Which struck me on two counts.

    1.

There’s a number of DASA people who, out of spite, laziness, hatred of all things UKW or whatever reason do miss out on work there and, also have missed out on contract work.

I don’t get that at all. It’s also known as “cutting off your nose to spite your face”.

    2.

There’s just as many lazy gits on here and also in the WTA that do exactly the same thing although probably not spiteful, just stupid and/or lazy.

I passed the customer RSL’s number anyway. No skin off my nose where the call goes so long as it’s not DAG, RC, 0800 etc.

    My opinion ……

The video looking at the stats it mentions I would say was made by Electrolux and advertises Serviceforce as a national brand . ( It just happens so use Responds property and van and engineer because it’s all properly liveried up and he would offer his guy and van for free for the cudos.)

Web site , if he’s after national coveragefor humself, it’s new to me, as one of the bigger SF agents I think I would have heard of.

They used to have 5 centres around London and home counties, Last I heard they were down to 50 engineers doing approx 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} electrolux work, SD is trying hard to find other work due to Electroluxs massive drop in sales over the past 3 years, ( My Lux workload is down by over 40 {e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d})I think his site is to try and stop D&G getting all his chargeable work, this is a real bone of contention within SF.

RSL are one of the business successes of the Electrolux management buyout, they own quite a bit of property, they have tried to get into commercial repairs, Sales both shop and internet. they are constantly trying to diversify and find new ventures. SD business partner does the financials and admin , SD does IT and technical. It’s 50/50 ownership as I understand. They are a strong team.

They are a pain in the ass for Lux. Electolux must hate the day when they gave them so much area.

I personnally think you need to find another whipping boy, I dont think there is any mileage in what your saying……. Or do you know something I don’t……. Stick to battering 0800repair !

The masterfix thing by them 2 in Chesterfield , it’s been murmered for years now , will it ever happen ?

I’ve heard some stuff on both counts.

I doubt either will go anywhere but you never know.

    Re: It’s Life Jim…

I don’t think there is any mileage in SD. As I said earlier, he is passionate regards training & opportunities. Not driven by money.

He came into DASA with a degree of scepticism, and took him a while to see any potential. Once he became involved he has been struggling to pull it up by the boot-straps.

He has made himself unpopular with one or two of the old guard as he is a stickler for procedure, and he has also given councillors tasks to undertake, therefore making them work a bit. Chris Hayter never used to delegate, and kept everything within the old guard.

Unlike the old DASA regime, meetings are not arranged as social events, they are now business conferences.

He has his bad points, don’t we all, and he is possibly using blitzkrieg tactics; but he is only there for 3 years as per constitution.

He sees he has a job to do, and limited time.

Masterfix however does intrigue me, they seem to bit of an enigma.

    Fair enough.

On a note off the back of some of Phil’s comments, have you guys been paying into a pot to promote SF?

    Absolutely totally NOT!

Moreover we probably wouldn’t most of us would expect them not to even ask. We are supposed to get a “Package” from them and full support. I’m sure if they asked us for money, we would tell them to put up the I/G rate to cover it. And that would not happen.

Also ask any of us what Service Force means. Answer, it is simply a name, and is meaningless to anyone outside of the repair industry.

    Re: It’s Life Jim…

I thought that and, tis a bit odd.

There’s TONS of Google Adwords stuff going on and stuff in Yell etc. for SF so someone’s spending a lot of money on it.

It seems a bit haphazard right enough but, knowing Lux, they’ll have hired some smarta$$ SEO people/agency to do it who know bog all about the industry.

    Re: It’s Life Jim…

Over the years I’ve come to be a little jaded sadly and I always look for the angle as, almost invariably, there is one.

Most people don’t want to change the world, they just want to change their own world.

In order to do that they have to profit from others normally as usually the change they desire is by way of making a pile of cash.

Masterfix I think see having a national network as the way of doing that and I have some strong anecdotal evidence to support that theory from more than one source.

But with both them, I can only comment on what I see and hear, I can then analyse and draw conclusions, assumptions perhaps, from that. Maybe I’m wrong, I dunno for sure, perhaps never will be. But being cautious never really does any harm and, I’m highly skeptical on both counts I have to admit.

In all honesty either or will do me no harm personally or in business. I’ve no reason at all to be balshy about either and no reason to tear them down in any way. Until that is they start to infringe on the indies, then I’ll get a bit uppity about them. It’s just one of my things.

But I’ll leave this post and, leave you lot, with a thought for the day that’s not religious, how many times have we all, over the years, seen some jumped up muppet (from manufacturers, retailers, insurers, repairers etc. etc.) that thinks they can rule the universe by building a national network of repairers?

How may times has that ended well?
