All is apparently calm and peaceful on the surface but, look beneath that and there’s a mountain of work going on.

Just by way of a quick update more than anything else since nobody else has had time to tap it out…

Adrian, Lawrence and myself attended the OFT in London a couple of weeks back chasing the OFT Approval for the Code Of Practise (COP). The meeting went very well and, the new COP which is available on the TA website is pretty much there, I’ll explain that in a moment.

But, hat’s off to Adrian who has done a superb job with the COP and in dealing with the OFT. It is now at the stage where the COP will be officially looked at by the OFT and, my personal gut feeling is, we will get the approval.

After that there was a meeting with the “council” for want of a better word, also known as the muppets that volunteered for this at Sibson late last week. At this meeting a few things were rattled about including what’s known as a Gap Analysis for the OFT and it’s pretty much job done on that front.

Amica (and others who must remain unknown) have expressed that they are really impressed with the COP and the aims etc. of the WTA. So much so that they have asked that ALL their repairers are a member of either the WTA or DASA so that they can meet the ISO9001 requirements that they have on monitoring. All good really.

But that is how important the COP is and why Ade and the rest have all worked hard at getting the show on the road. We are hoping that it delivers good work to WTA members instead of anyone else.

The TA website, as mooted by Martin earlier, is going to undergo changes over the coming months. Already there is some content up there awaiting final approval by all that is designed to help repairers, call handling staff and consumers alike. If you’re a registered member on the site you can view it, it isn’t open to unregistered guests for the time being until it’s ticked off.

Over the next few months we’re going to work up some marketing messages for the site as well. The intent is to direct people quickly to what they are looking for and, essentially, to say to people that they would be much, much better to look for a WTA member when it comes to repairs.

I’m quite sure that by the time that the September meeting rolls round there will be a lot more going on too.

In the meantime, enjoy. Just please don’t think that because you don’t see a lot happening that there isn’t a lot happening because there is and, I’ve probably only scratched the surface with this post.

    K.
