    Hi there

I’ve had a look around for an answer and think I have just confused myself even more so looking for help here.

I have a commercial Coca cola fridge (one of the 2m tall ones you get in a newsagent / general store) that I use to condition homebrew beer in.

It’s ideal (large, gets cold enough to condition lager properly and can take a barrel inside) – happy days however…

I opened it about a month ago and it was warm. I turned it off and left it but on trying it again it’s still not cooling. The fan runs and I can hear the compressor? click and start that classic ‘fridge hum’ but after a few seconds it clicks again and the hum stops. A few minutes later it will try again and repeat the cycle…click, hum, click

The fridge hasn’t been moved / knocked or played with. One day it was working, the next it wasn’t…is there some sort of reset button? I’ve taken the panel of the front but can’t see anything instantly. I’ve played around with the thermostat inside but no change…

Any ideas what has happened??? I am a complete novice with fridges and with summer coming cold beer would be better than warm! 🙁

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi

The clicking is the compressor overload..It’ll be a new compressor required.

Just in case you need a second opinion as Brian said it will need a new Compressor.

Not a DIY or cheap job.

    Bugger…

I guess they just die with age then? or power surge or something?

Thanks lads, not what I wanted to hear but bad news never is!

I’ll start hunting for an alternative before the beer gets too warm!
