JLWM1203 stopped spinning or agitating

My washing machine stopped doing any kind of spin or agitating yesterday. I started a wash and when I came back to empty the machine a couple of hours later it was still full of water and the time on the timer hadn’t changed. Fortunately the pump still works so I could drain it and take the clothes out.

I tried running it empty just to see what happened and after it fills with water nothing happens. It doesn’t make any noise to indicate that the motor that turns the drum is working at all.

Is this a common and repairable problem? I’d like to get this machine fixed if I can since I was hoping to buy a new one next year as part of a kitchen renovation.

this machine should have carbon brushes in the motor that wear over time

if thats all it is then its an easy cheap fix

Would that generally cause the motor to just totally stop working, or would it try to start and just not do anything?

just stops the motor

if you selected a spin the pump would run and nothing else
