ParticipantMy JLWM1407 washing machine had a problem in the drainage hose – the spigot was blocked. However having unblocked the spigot & cleaned the pump it now has a new issue. Every wash cycle (well at least the 30,40 delicates, 40 normal and 90 normal) runs for a few minutes and then jumps straight to end of cycle (I.e. Beeping and displaying 0 minutes to go). No error code displayed or unusual lights that I can see. The drum is still 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} full of water. Putting it manually onto a drain cycle works fine – empties in a minute or less. Manual spin setting also works fine. I’m baffled as to what the problem is: any ideas appreciated?
With an 8 month old and a messy 3 year old it gets a lot of use so pretty urgent for us! Thanks in advance for any help…

Check out the heater, it may have an earth leak.

Good tip! It’s definitely something to do with the heating circuit as the cold wash runs through fine. I’ve taken out the heater element, cleaned it and checked the impedance (33 ohms) and also checked the thermostat impedance changes as I hold it in a warm hand (around 4.4k ohms). No luck though – still the same symptoms. Any way to work out if I need a new heating element or control board? The latter would probably be so expensive that I’d get a new machine instead

The earth insulation potential of the heater you need to check. In the trade we use a 500DCv insulation tester as a matter of course to quickly eliminate when fault finding in cases like this. Any earth leak on any component can cause the electronics to shut down or do random things. So we check motor and heater first of all. A multimeter isn’t usually sufficient in testing earth potential hence why we use a Megger.

Thanks. I don’t have one of those :-). May have to call someone out. I did just run a 40 cycle with my multimeter attached to the heating element poles and measured no AC voltage at any point. So I’m guessing the control board is broken – it’s not even trying the heating element

I can’t rule out a faulty control board after all it is easy to blame. But I yet haven’t had enough proof that the heater is faulty?

Ok replaced the heating element – same symptoms so I think must be the control board. Time for a new machine I think

Before you give up since you have changed the heater.
Check motor brushes, the pressure switch/s* and air trap, and if a sole motor the tacho coil magnet / tacho coil hasn`t fallen off back of the motor It not that common that skiping to end is the pcb.
* some models might have 2 pressure switches ? but I don`t know that as no pnc 914………../ number is given. if 2 p/swts the smaller black one controls the heater and the air trap to it might be blocked up. Just a wild thought! -
