JLWM1603 spinning problem

Hello All
Our JLWM1603 has worked fine for 6 years (typically out of Cover!) but has recently stopped spinning properly. It will attempt to spin, a few short bursts and occasionally a half spin for a short period, about 700 rpm, but then will stop spinning altogether.

I have checked the filter and it drains without fault.

I think it may be a faulty sensor telling the machine it is unbalanced, but we have not moved the machine, it sits flat on the floor, and we have tried all typeds of loads. all to no avail.

Any advice please.

My wife is using a 30 year old stand alone spinner! and we have 3 messy kids who do alot of sport, and I am working away from home for the next week so can’t even look at the WM!

Have the brushes been replaced, if not I would do that 1st

Do you happen to know which machine this one is, ie its a John Lewis but is it AEG/Electrolux/Bosch etc, and whuich model.

Are the bushes simple and cheap to replace as time is precious and we only need a machine for 2 months, hence don’t want to spend much on this one..

It is made by Electrolux in their factory in Porcia, Italy.

As for the brushes you will first need to tell us what make of motor is fitted first (stamped on the motor)?

Thanks Martin, I was worried I would need this info! Not a standard motor in all machines then? Can this info be found on the label at the back or is it only on the motor? Can’t expect my wife to lift the machine out and start stripping it down unfortunately!

Out of curiosity, why would the brushes being worn ONLY affect the spin cycle? The machine runs a complette wash as normal and only fails at the spin cycle. Hence, the motor seems to be working normally.

Far better then she call on a local engineer to sort it as I’m sure any delay would further the domestic crisis. Check for one in your area HERE 😀

Thanks, but she is coping well.
I hope to be able to sort it myself, just trying to get a head start. I used to fix helicopters….certain I can handle a WM, just used to the mechanical whirring bits as opposed to the electrical sparky bits!
If it’s bushes it looks a doddle. But can anyone clever answer my question re:- motor at slow speed vs high speed…..would worn bushes allow a motor to operate normally at low speed and then fail at high speed?
