    John Lewis JLDWW1327 dishwasher.
I’ve got a weird fault on this machine.
When plugged in the m/c starts to fill and won’t stop until unplugged.
Whilst it is filling the on/off button has no effect nor does opening the door, it just continues to fill and after a minute or two the pump cuts in and it empties only for it to start filling again.
Anybody had a similar issue and what was the remedy?

does the valve start as soon as you turn it on

my first thought would be the inlet valve triac on the board

Yes the inlet valve energised as soon as it’s connected to the electrical supply and before on/off switch operation.

I have had this before on a similar model and it turned out to be faulty surface mount capacitors on the circuit board – there are 2 or 3 places on the board where they put a capacitor and resistor in series accross the triac to prevent electrical spikes, these capacitor can crack and go short ciruit.

    Cheers for the input Jem.
I’m not really into repairing pcb’s so taking into account the cost of a replacement module this m/c will end up down the tip.
