John Lewis (Electrolux) Heat Pump Dryer JLTDH14

Hi guys

I replaced the rear pulley wheel which runs the hot air fan on the above machine (s/n 14978146 PNC 916096803/00) yesterday as the centre was worn and it was wobbling all over the place. When I tested the machine afterwards, there was little or no heat being generated so I ran the diagnostics check to see what was going on. It’s’ showing an E32 error which is indicating a fault with the sensor circuit through the drum. The machine’s only a couple of years old and both the front and rear brushes look fine.

All the initial functional tests around the diagnostic work OK until I get to no.6 (the one where the compressor runs) when the machine seems to go ‘dead’ after a couple of seconds (all LEDs off, no action from any components). The next step is the sensor test and I get E32 at this stage.

I’m going to do the normal ‘unplug/refit all the connections on the board’ to see if this resolves the fault but I don’t want to think about replacing the main pcb (suggested by fault table on Procorner) unless as a last resort.

Any ideas/experience of this scenario? (And apologies for all the brackets).

Have you did testing on both halves of drum, sometimes excess fluff will cause an E32.

Do you mean continuity between the drum and the brush on the front and back halves? The unit is very clean so I don’t think it’s a fluff problem preventing the brushes from connecting.

In these dryers the conductivity sensors is made up of two brushes, the two halves
and the drum & the electronics for measuring.
E32 means that in diagnostics at test position 7 has not noticed the short circuit of the drum (that YOU the engineer should put in place) if a short circuit is not noted in the 4 second duration of the test it will show E32.

Oh hell, yes! I’ve worked on enough Miele Professional dryers to know that they’ll sense ‘no load’ without providing a short or damp washing when testing. You’d think after 30 years fixing these thinks I’d remember something bloody basic like that. Thanks for putting me right Seamy – I’ll have another blast at it tonight.
