Can someone confirm what I already suspect?

John Lewis integrated washing machine JLBIWM1402, a rebadged zanussi model of course so really an Electrolux..

Spin cycle has been getting louder (quiet enough on low RPMs and is washing laundry fine). When it went to high speed spin the other day it suddenly got INCREDIBLY LOUD, like an unbaffled motorbike. Don’t notice much movement in the drum and no noise when turned by hand or on low RPMs.

But, still, it’s the bearings right? Machine is 9 years old and I see is another sealed drum/welded tub assembly (as anything other than a Miele is these days). The whole assembly goes for £212 at Espares and I am frankly very unlikely to be splitting this machine down and doing the work myself.

So, it’s another environmental disaster recycle and replace, yes?

Sadly in a word yes. At nine years old though it has it has done well. Time to start looking for a new one.

Thanks Don. I’d be looking at a Miele but this is an integrated model and boss (Mrs BT) will insist the new one is too. Hey ho.
