    Hi Folks,

My John Lewis American Fridge Freezer is 13 days out of it’s 3 year warranty and the freezer has stopped working. First inkling was ice maker was not producing ice – just water in the plastic trays so yesterday i stuck a thermometer in there and put it down to -22 on fast freeze. This morning it was reading barely -6 so I wondered what is the most likely to fail ?
I see the fan motors are around £30 and I could probably change this myself at a push but is this likely to fail and can you test them ?

The fridge freezer is I believe Daewoo of some description.

    Thanks
    Mark. 😡

As it is only 13 Days out of warranty I would go into your local John Lewis and ask if they will look at it sympathetically and cover a repair.

John Lewis aftercare are excellent and you may be lucky and get a free of charge repair.

It is a Daewoo and the fault is most likely the freezer fan motor faulty.

It is a small 13.5 volt fan motor and this model is rare to have any faults other than the fan motor.

When the new fan is fitted it may not start until the temperature drops on the evaporator normally 10 to 15 minutes.

You also need to press and hold the light switch for 30 seconds to check the fan is running when you have the freezer door open.

You have to dismantle and remove the Icemaker and rear panel inside the freezer to get to the fan motor so best left to an engineer to replace it.

    Bob
