ParticipantAfternoon all, first post so please be gentle!
I bought a “new” (albeit graded) John Lewis JLBICH605 Ceramic Hob off Ebay and fitted it yesterday. I have used it today to find whilst all the controls illuminate as they should, the left rear controls the left front hotplate, and the left front control does not seem to activate anything. The right controls and hotplates work as they should.
This is a warranted item, but will cost me half a day and £30 in fuel to return, (plus I’ll then be without one again!), so I’m thinking of having an engineer look at it.
Any ideas what might be happening here?

Return it and ask it be fixed FOC or give you a refund. 🙁

Is the mains connector block wired correctly as, if it isn’t, this is exactly the type of fault you’d get and it’s an installation error, not a faulty product.
The links MUST be in the correct position for the UK on the terminal block.
Not covered by warranty either so please check very carefully or expect a bill for correcting the installation. 😉

My thoughts too Kieth. When I managed a kitchen design company, back in the day, that was the number one reoccurring fault with appliances, especially if the customer fitted it them selves, no offence intended to the original poster. The instructions will explain where the links need to be positioned for a 240v supply.

Thanks all, appreciate the help.
I’ve had the hob back out and checked the connections and all seems correct. I’ve taken a couple of photos (I moved the cable securing clip for clarity).
Any more advice please?

Yep, you’ve wired it correctly. Must be a duff hob and I refer you back to my first post on the subject.
