ParticipantCustomer has a 3 year old JL upright freezer and thinks the temp goes up and down inside. When I quickly popped round the temp was set to minus 19*centigrade and measured inside minus 18 to minus 19* centigrade.
The large black corrugated pipe that runs from the top of the evaporator at the rear down to the clear plastic tray over the pump appears blocked? Cannot blow or suck through this pipe. Unfortunately it goes straight into the back with a sticky mastic sealing it in place.
Should this pipe be clear at all times for water drainage and now blocked with ice as you don’t get the odd pea or corn of the cob stuck in the hole at the bottom of other units.
Anybody come across the black pipe syndrome of these Hungarian freezers?March 8, 2017 at 10:03 pm #445787captaincaveman1

Its common for the non return valve at the end of the tube to block then it builds up and jams the fan with ice but with the valve in you wouldn’t be able to blow in the tube anyway so is the evaporater thick with ice ?

Hi Captaincaveman1
The front of the evaporator looked ice free having taken off the front plastic grill but you could not suck or blow through the tube either way? Had used a hot hair dryer to warm things up at the top but could not thaw the whole freezer as it was loaded to the gunnels with meat.
Whereabouts would they have installed this one way valve in the drain? I don’t see why you possibly have it installed as gravity does the work from the top of the freezer right to the bottom where it connects to a clear plastic 90* connection into the tray on the compressor. No peas or sweet corn to get lodged up at the top? Many thanks

By the way did take off the clear plastic elbow on the tray and tried to blow and then suck through the black plastic corrugated pipe at the bottom.

Don’t recognise the model it on a lot of these style lux have brought out an external drain tube mod, the internal drain tube freezes and blocks, a messy repair as you have to cut out the back panel (from rear) and install from there
