While unblocking the condensate drain on a Siemens fridge-freezer I found what appears to be a chafed defrost/heating wire – white, single core wire looping around a metal chute, taped to the surface, presumably for heating/defrost?

The insulation was worn through on a short area near the edge of the chute and the conductor exposed so needs replacing/repairing. Checking online it looks like the part is obsolete, so may need to joint and reinsulate the damaged section of wire.

Any guidance on best way to do this? Was planning to use a crimp joint and insulate with high temperature heat-shrink. Sound reasonable, any other suggestions?

    This is the part:

Probably about the best you can do really.
