Well if the bearing have gone they should of been looked at/changed long ago and the weight may not of snapped due to all the vibration and same goes for the belt, if it had been repaired earlier rather than continued use then the latter 2 things may not of happened at all, typical of the public tbh.

Ahem. I think you will find there was a full stop between the washer with the broken weight and the tumble dryer with the duff bearings. LJ 😉 😀
The weights do break off these often, usually preceded by loud noises but if people are out at work or the machine is in a garage they will not always hear it. 😥
As for VTD dryer belts they also snap for fun, even when the bearings are OK. :rolls:
Fact is they are just shoddy machines these days.

these modern t/ds with stretch belts are not going to last long with that ridiculous downwards presure on the drum. the designers of new appliances should be ashamed of there selves, they just leave the buyer to do the destruction tests.

Just hang back a while and figure their remit for a moment do. Cheap, effective, does what it says on the tin, pump ’em out like sausages, low input, high output…..their job done….Period!
If we in the trade get an earner from that those “ashamed” appliances then just you be ever grateful for small mercies my friend.
May those elasticated belts keep on a bustin’ I say. If out of 10,000 sold each year I get some share of that action before they reach landfill then I say……….BRING IT ON!!!!!! 8)

LOL Martin, Leave me a few eh?
I actually like it when u get a call “ive got the belt but hubby cant fit it” its a right pain i tell em! ( well im not gonna tell them how to do it am i ) then i go round and put the belt under my foot…. give a good hard tug or two then fit! normally gives it the edge,But i do agree, pure brute force is needed most the time and they really are a pain for such what should be a complete doddle.
I worry about ripping my wrists to bits if i happen to slip while applying pressure, some real sharp nasty edges on these machines.Keep making shoddy crap by all means, but produce a machine that will round them sharp edges for us engineers would ya. 8)

No brute force at all required – easy to do with the special tool. No real chance of injury. My wrists and knuckles are worth more to me than the cost of the tool. Mine has paid for itself time and again. 8)
