If it were me and I received the letter I did from DAG the other day regarding Gas Safe Handling, I’d do what I did, which was call them up and tell them that it was a load of bollox and we didn’t need it for R600a and, as I was later informed, very possibly not for R134a either.

Then I’d tell them, as I did, to shove the work as it wasn’t worth the hassle and expense of getting the certification for it to do domestics.

Now, if they want to pay commercial rates then we’ll have another discussion about it… they didn’t go for that.

But then later on I gave Mr Dales a shout, who knows more on this area than I do, who told me about the R143a thing and a few other bits and bobs to add to me “ferk orf” arsenal.

Now the suggestion is, if it were me that saw this and if I was formulating strategy, I’d press-gang him into WTA service and have him represent the WTA to the ACRIB mob (http://www.acrib.org.uk/) so that the indies have representation there as, as you can see, there currently is none.

Ian is well capable enough to do that and, I think, would do an excellent job of representing us and fighting our corner.

Just a suggestion though. 😉

That sounds like an excellent idea – information is power after all. Having someone with in – depth knowledge leaves us as a TA less open to being spoon fed bulls4it. Then we can honestly and correctly advise the membership on any query they may have.
Now all we need is a brave soul to sound out CORGI…….. 😉

Many thanks for the invite – forget ACRIB at this point they are just a register of fridge engineers not the mouthpiece. I’ll be tackling the Institute of Refrigeration in the New Year and with you support put forward the points of view of the WTA with regard to the domestic appliance fridge area.
