ParticipantBosch sgs46e28 coming next week. I’ve just had a look at the manual ( from Bosch website ) and it says to turn off the water tap in between use, is that really neccesary ? it’s going under a worktop next to the washing machine so the tap is behind them.
Secondly, to prepare the new drain/power/water connections I took the washer out for better access, the hot hose connector started leaking from the crimped bit, after replacing both hoses I cut the crimp open and found the plastic was very brittle and cracked, would it have been ok if I hadn’t disturbed it or was it a flood waiting to happen ? should I replace the hoses every 5yr or so ? I’ve fitted pipe clips now so the connection won’t get strained if I move the washer/dishwasher.

We get more aggro with fill hoses causing leaks than anything else…… For what they cost, changing them every few years is a sound investment.
That said, Bosch dishwashers come with a black polythene hose which is just about indestructible.
As for turning the water off after each use, that’s probably a bit of corporate tail covering. It is a good idea to turn the water off and unplug your appliances if you are buzzing off on holiday for a fortnight – switch the cooker off as well.

Supplier rang Sat morning to say it’s out of stock. Found out later when it arrived! that it was out of stock due to the driver picking it up before the supplier rang to check……….. driver said he’d had to ring all the drop offs in advance to make sure they’d still be in. The earlier call to say it wasn’t coming was from “expert logisitics” , hmmmm ?
Anyway, as Penguin45 said, it does come with a black poly hose that feels like it’ll last, although it is a bit stiff and narrow and wouldn’t stay in the 15mm pipe clip I’d attached to the wall near the tap. The concrete weight under the lid was split but I doubt it’s going anywhere, oh, and the black bitumin coating ( soundproofing ? ) on the back was a bit molten looking near where the drain hose exits.
Thought it was ok though for £287 inc saturday delivery and 2yr guarantee.
