ParticipantHi all,
I have never used a dishwasher.
I am disabled & like the idea of having to get to the sink & wash dishes – to help mobility / pain etc.
The problem is that I can’t get chip pans very clean !
I tend to strip them down completely to wash in bits – but this takes me 2 days. Even so called ‘Easy-clean’ models are not easy to clean.
Obviously the body, pan, larger parts do wash o.k,,, but parts around hinges / catches / baskets etc cannot be got at – no matter how much I strip them down.My question is easy (I hope the answer is !?)
Would a Slimline dishwasher actually clean these impossible to get at places on chip pan & similar items ?I wil only consider one at all if it does this one task successfully.
I only have room for a Slim-line model. I don’t want to spend a lot, as it will only be used occasionally – so feel free to recommend anything that you have experience of – or any ‘special-offers’ out there.Cheers all

Hi Furkin,
No I wouldn’t recommend one simply for that task.
I have a fryer that can be totally stripped and every part of it, bar the electrics and element, can be put in a dishwasher and even using a top flight dishwasher it won’t get it spotless. The reason is, I think, that the grease build-ups are just too heavy for the dishwasher to cope with.
Dishwashers are fantastic appliances and very definitely worth having but tasks like this can defeat them.

Hi There,
Just more or less to echo Kwatt’s post, I too would recomend a dishwasher. My present home is a small bungalow and in our kitchen my dishwasher is a bench top (4 place one) and works ok for us. Only snag is if I want to put the pans in, it has to been done in 2 washes, so if you have the space for an 8 place one, go for it says I. My hubby is also disabled with Congestive heart and Kidney Failure and gets very breathless and tired quickly, so for I find it very handy to be able to chuck everything in & it allows me more time with him & at the end of the night, take everything out and put it away. No more tea towels and all that jazz.
Can I suggest these http://www.astonishcleanersweb.co.uk/product/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=27 made by Astonish. They are very good at cleaning chip pans/deep fat fryers & I use them to clean our fryer out.
Good luck with whatever you decide. – WQ 😀
