    Hi All,

My Kenwood CK405 Range Cooker is causing me problems.

Last Sunday, when cooking the roast turkey, the fuse board suddenly tripped. Upon resetting the fuse, the main oven no longer heated up. The light and fan still functioned but the element wasn’t heating up. The next day I bought and fitted a new oven heating element. For a few hours, all was well. But now when I turn the oven ‘Function’ dial in any direction, left to ‘grill’ or right to ‘light’, the fuse board immediately trips as soon as the dial engages.

The smaller left-hand side oven and grill still function, as does the gas hob. I just can’t turn the main oven ‘Function” dial that operates the main oven, grill, light or defrost functions.

Everything else on the cooker functions correctly.

    Any ideas?

As far as I can see I have installed the new element correctly and in the exact same way the previous one was installed.

    Many thanks in advance,

never assume the new element is ok

if its a pattern element the odds are it could be faulty

try disconnecting the wires from the new element make sure they cant touch anything then turn it on and see if it trips then

if no its probably the new element

Yep, I’ve pulled out the cooker and unplugged the three connectors on the heating element and I can now turn the function dial without tripping the fuse-board.
