ParticipantHi all, I am a retired electrician & have a problem with my oven, Occasionally whilst being used it loses all power even to the display board, After 5 to 10 minutes the power comes back on & the display board flashes till I reset it & continue to use it as normal, I am wandering if this could be the safety cut out & if it is where is it located, Thank,s in anticipation, Mike.

Check the feed at source, the terminal block, the cable… If none of those, it is likely a failing capacitor on the timer

Thank,s for reply, I have checked the supply, Is the timer part of the digital display unit?, Why do you not think it could be the safety stat ?. Regards Mike

Probably a safety stat usually located on top or rear of cavity. The stats are a reaction/indication of but they are not the likely fault, likely the thermostat is causing over heat, fan motor, ventilation or cooling fan failure.

Thank,s for reply, I will monitor it for the time being & see if it goes off completely so I can trace fault. At the moment it has only happened twice in 3 months & by the time I would be able to get into the oven to test it it would have reset, The temperature thermostat seems to be working as the temperature indicator light is going on & off as normal when oven is maintaining set temperature. Regards Mike.

I have ordered a safety thermostat & I am going to change this & check the operation of the cooling fan also clean the fan ducting. Has anyone any idea where the safety stat is mounted on this oven, Regards Mike.

Hi, I have replaced the oven safety stat, It was located on rear wall of oven to the left hand side, To get to it I removed the top & rear covers & this exposes about anything one would need to replace in the oven,
Whilst I was in I tested the lower element as I had doubts if it was working & found it was open circiut, So have ordered a replacement. Only time will tell if changing the safety stat has cured my initial problem, but if it happens again I will try changing the oven stat. Regards Mike.November 30, 2014 at 6:55 pm #421480MDD

Hi All, I have replaced the bottom element & did not find it easy as old element was so distorted it broke up while I was pulling it out & I had to make a hook out of an old wire coathanger to pull all the bits out, Even this was not easy as the element slides into a narrow drawer under oven floor which makes it difficult to see what you are doing. Anyway its done now!, Regards Mike
