KeymasterAnyone thinking of buying this oven think twice! De Longhi the Company that makes this seems incapable of aligning the lower oven door with the top one. I requested a replacement for the first oven and have just received it. Guess what! the replacement is the same as the first. Either there is a rogue robot making these in Italy or their quality controllers are blind or cross eyed.
I am just exhausted by it all, but am wondering if there are other peoplr out there like me? Maybe watchdog will have to be my next port of call!

I bought an “Elba” cooker few years back, also made by Delonghi…it had the same problem, also the cooker was stainless steel….except that Delonghi put a coating on it to “fingerproof” it, this coating did not like heat and peeled of near any hot spots on the oven/grill doors
I believe Delonghi still make cookers with all these “features” they are branded under the names Kenwood, Elba, and Prestige.
Some other “features” which you may wish to look out for on these cookers are….
No catalytic liners in ovens, only enamel…nightmare to clean
No cooling fans in Grills (closed door grilling on these cookers)
knobs get really hot due to no cooling fan.
Closed door grilling can be tricky until you get used to it….several grill pan fires I had!
Cannot clean above grill elements (no removable liner)
And the thing is they are not cheap cookers……..best compare to other similar priced ones with better features

Sadly these things are made to meet a price point.
If you look at a similar cooker from Stoves, Smeg or almost any of the more recognised brands you’ll find that for a stainless “range cooker” they are usually a fair bit more expensive with the the same, or better feature set on them.
I’m afraid it’s a case of caveat emptor and you really have to research the facts before you decide what the budget is for an appliance or what it is that you actually need to do the job. Many of the appliances we see, mostly under warranty calls, are a case of the appliance not meeting the customer’s expectations and I often finding myself reminding people that whilst a Mini and a Ferarri will both get you from A to B there are a few differences between the two in terms of performance. Exactly the same principal is applied in our industry and all those white or silver boxes are NOT and DO NOT perform the same by any stretch of the imagination and, in the end more often than not, you get what you pay for.
We just try to help people understand that and navigate the minefield.

After a strong letter to Kenwood, they sent an engineer to adjust the oven doors to almost perfect alignment. I agree with the above points made that you only get what you pay for. However, I have known lots of friends who have bought top of range products and still had problems. As I am retired and cook daily and clean my oven nearly every day: (I have the time), the enamel interior does not pose a problem. Also the grill is far better and faster than the grill on my old gas cooker (this model does have a cooling fan). Remains to be seen about the stainless steel finish! I am satisfied with the outcome and if it lasts 5+ years, I shall be more than happy.
A good result as far as I am concerned, bearing in mind the cost!
