ParticipantI am having a crisis with a Kenwood Dishwasher KDW12 ST 3A – started to tear hair out etc. Any wisdom appreciated.
Basically the machine is not heating. I have done the following:
1. Tested heater = OK
2. Changed the thermostat (in black clip-on holder, stuck to underside of wash pan with conductive past – 5045-1710-3345-2 from Connect)
3. Checked pressure chamber to pressostat not blocked
4. Filling to correct level (covers salt cap)
5. Pump pressure seems OK – running top spray arm OK (that nasty askol pump/ motor)There is a pushbutton re-settable TOC (Thermal Limiter) listed for this machine. I got one but it doe not seem to be fitted, certainly couldn’t find it underneath (Part no 012G6010009 from W’Goods Shop). Is it in some place I haven’t looked, like up the side or in the door?
There is of course the PCB to consider – like a burnt-out heater relay, but I have not heard of that being a Kenwood common fault (like with the older Bosch DWs).
Any of you gents got some suggestions that will get me of the hook here?
Have I missed something obvious, or am I just getting too old for the job?? (retirement seems very attractive at times like this….)September 23, 2010 at 7:02 pm #331078whiskeyjack6058

Have you checked for continuity up to the module? Could be a broken wire in the door loom perhaps?

Some machines have a pressure switch / flow switch near the motor. (Not the same as a water level pressure switch.)
Does your one? It could be something like this part at connect;
5045174120531If the switch dosen’t activate it won’t supply power to the heater.

Unfortunately the customer baled out, and stopped the last cheque……
Can’t win ’em all.
I hate these “european” (or Chinese) dishwashers! Give me a Bosch/Neff any day.

i’m having an issue with one as well. my problem is it won’t spray. checked everything back to the board and when shorting out the switched side of motor relay the pump works fine. took out board and tested relay with 12v across coil and nowt. so you may have same problem with the heater relay circuit. been quoted £50 plus vat for new module.
thing is i wish my customer would bale out.
