Ive searched Whitegoods but so far cannot find an answer..

Our Kenwood tabletop dishwasher KDW4TTSL has produced an error code

The machine is turned on from it’s previously successful cycle of dishwashing, it goes through the initial 4 minutes or so whereupon it would start spraying the Plates, etc.
At this point it beeps and displays Er 2 on the display.

Nothing on the Kenwood website to help, it appears they have stopped supporting Dishwashers? The other half has lost the manual which always used to be underneath the machine
Has anyone got a solution as to what Error 2 is and how it should be dealth with? I have an Engineer I can call should it need parts replacing

    Many thanks

😀 Found a solution. – Well made my own up.

Couldnt find anything on the fault codes but eventually found a manual online using the machine designation as my search (Note Yahoo is rubbish for searches, use Google)

Found the error codes in the manual.

it showed my code as being for the ‘drain too long’
solution was to lower the drainpipe…

Which it’s been that way for 2 years!!

    So.. the drainpipe is fine.
What else could have given those results? The machine drains fine.. hmm.. maybe it does but the last bit stays, fooling the machine that it hasnt drained… mmm ok.. maybe crud stuck in the pipe.
A blow back thru the drainpipe showed nothing, but a jiggle (tech term) of the machine I believe loosened whatever was causing the machine it’s false report.
Machine now working. Will see what happens later on when it finishes!!

NOTE! the E2 code for kenwood is NOT the same as for SMEG and Diplomat Dishwashers as stickied in the forum.

Of course it isn’t. SMEG at least make a decent effort at making a quality product. MFI (Diplomat) used to buy them with their badge on.

Yours, unfortunately, is Chinese and therefore should be treated with the respect due an unexploded bomb at all times. Replace at the very earliest opportunity.

As a matter of fact, the Chinese Kenwood happens to have outlived our previous non Chinese dishwasher quite well thankyou very much..

The ‘Note’ was for people like myself who’ve come onto the forum in search of help and information and who may have assumed or hoped, as there are no mention of the E2 error code for Kenwood elsewhere on the internet, that the E2 code shown in the title ‘Sticky: Diplomat Hygena and Smeg E2 error code’ may have applied equally to their machine. As shown by that thread title, it’s wholly possible for cross pollination of codes across makes.

Cheers for your help, I really feel happy that I came by to ask the so called ‘Experts’ for help, if all you can do is sit and slag off our purchases.
Glad I didnt bother with the repairs@ service either if theyre as unhelpful and rude as yourself.

Most, if not all of those you call ‘so called Experts’ who post in the public forums have between 20 to 40 years experience in the trade. It gives us no great pleasure to call a machine junk or rubbish, and indeed it can upset some people who feel their judgment is being called into question.

However, we do value our integrity and prefer to be honest even if it may appear brusque. 8)

The simple fact is that if you pay a low price for a machine then the chances are it will be of dubious quality.

Don’t forget you have only seen one of these machines. We see hundreds, mostly scrapped within a very short time due to the appalling quality of their construction.

They are so bad that a large number of independents will not go within a mile of them.

In short, if P45 says it junk then you had better believe it. 😉

🙂 You should send your Penguin on acustomer care course. Youre moderators on a large forum which serves to advertise your fellow tradesmen.

Before firing the SEND button a quick scan and ‘what effect will this have on this CUSTOMER’ can save plenty of heartache.

    A simple:

‘Thanks for posting your findings, Sorry one of the guys didnt manage to help you. Youve been lucky, 2 years is good for a chinese model dishwasher, ultimately they tend to break before some of the other brands and you might want to avoid one next time! Give any of us a shout next time and we’ll point you in the right direction for something that will last longer and be less inclined to breakdown’

works a whole lot better. The customer (ME) feels much better about life and a whole lot more inclined to return and to use the repairs@ service…
which at the moment I wont. Thats not my fault.

    :rolls:

Oh dear. After you’ve posted about the sins and failings of Chinese dishwashers for thousands of posts and nobody listens “Because it’s a bargain”, you do gradually lose the will to live.

If I’ve offended you by telling you the truth, grow up, get your hand in your pocket, spend some money and buy the Bosch table top machine. It’s perfectly decent, has a two year warranty and will cost you a damn sight more than £147. Where do you people live? Some sort of fantasy world where you get it all for nothing? It’s cheap crap, it’s virtually unrepairable at any sort of economic price and you’ve got the bare faced gall to come on here and complain that someone’s told you a simple home truth? Get real.

Buzz off to DIYNot or one of the other idiot forums and get some help.

    Actually…

The moderators are superb IMO. They give you the truth as we see it and, while you might not like that, it is worthy of respect.

Fact is that the Kenwood name is, so far as appliances goes, a Currys owned brand name (which the independents have little to do with) that is manufactured in China by Haier or Midea (who all the indies dislike at best, I’m being kind) and serviced by their own network who are, frankly, welcome to it.

I’m sure if you ask Currys, where you bought the machine from, they’ll be only too willing to bend over backwards to help you.

You will find that many of the repairers on repairs@ don’t touch Kenwood and, even if they do, many don’t offer any warranty whatsoever on Chinese produced appliances as they just aren’t worth the hassle.

But again, I’m sure Currys will help you as they are quite obviously the pinnacle of customer care and have informed you as to exactly the nature of the the fault you have experienced with their product.

Perhaps we should also have customer courses as well so that people can go on them to learn how to ask for help without shooting themselves in the foot as well eh? Perhaps if you weren’t so keen to slag off the people trying to help you they may feel a little more encouraged to try and help you (FOR FREE), how’s that for a mad idea?

    K.
