Fill but no circulation? The start capacitor for the circulation motor has probably failed. Can you hear a faint humming noise after fill ceases?

yes m8 thats spot on is it a hard job, or maybe where the drainage pipes where frozen outside the flood detector has kicked in and is stopping the wash motor

Awkward rather than difficult. You need to get the rear lower panels off for access. The capacitor has a “uF” rating on it (4, from memory) and you’ll be able to match the value HERE.
Power off first, obviously.

Well, it’s Chinese tat is the basic problem. Build quality is appallingly poor. Spending a tenner on a capacitor is fair enough; I wouldn’t be shelling out £90 + VAT + labour on it as you will then feel the need to repair it again next time it fails. And – it will.

There is one type of circulation motor which doesn’t use a capacitor – the “Big Askoll” type, As far as I’m aware, the Chinese don’t use these. A conventional motor would have the capacitor mounted on a bracket on the side of the motor itself. It’s either an aluminium cylinder or a white/grey plastic one.
If this doesn’t match what you can see, pice would be much appreciated – sometimes it’s a voyage of discovery for us repairers too.

Currys do not and never have ‘made’ anything. They, like Comet will buy in the cheapest possible rebadged product and sell it as an exclusive machine.

going to one of these today. i tried describing the indesit type motor to another repairer whose job it is, but he reckons that isnt whats in it. i’ll give update when i’ve been. he did find a 3mf capacitor changing it didn’t work. (he doesnt do dishwashers normally. i persuaded him to have a go and this was his first job. probably put him off for ever).

update on this dishy. it does have a capacitor motor on it. however it is a very small white plastic encased motor. the capacitor is 3mf and is black rectangular and screwed to the chassis on side. the capacitor has red and a blue wire. the motor is fed via two white wires one is piggy backed to the heater neutral the other goes back to the module.
i traced the wire back to the corresponding relay on the board. with bits hanging out i put the machine on prewash and waited for the point where spray pump should work. NOTHING!
the relay is single pole so i shorted the 240v output across the relay and the pump worked o.k.
situation now is that the board is on desk so that i can test the relay with a 12v dc supply. if its duff then i’ll solder in a new one. i must say its probably the 12v supply to it which is dodgy.
to sum up then these symptoms are definately the boards fault whenever the humm noise isn’t there.
