    Hi, My KDW243 (just out of waranty!) has stopped washing the lower rack. It looks as if the lower arm is not spining at all but the top one is OK. Can anyone help?

    I have had plenty of E4 errors in the past but have always been able to clear them by pulling the machine out and tiping it over. This fault doesn’t seem as common.

    Alternator valve failure most probably. Integral with the wash motor, so replacement of the entire unit required.

    Being a Chinese jobby, I really wouldn’t do it – it’s not worth that much.

    Thanks for your help Penguin45. If I decide to fix it rather than scrap it is it hard to get at the motor?
