Hello All, I just bought a second-hand Kenwood KDW60S16 Dishwasher the other day , and its working fine (apart from terrible smell of dirty mop smell inside but it seems to be subsiding after a few hot washes and dishwasher cleaner and cups of bleach) – as I say working fine, cleaning dishes as it should, all filling up and emptying fine but the display is doing weird things. But it is useable.

So , even when dishwasher is turned off (by the top left standby button , but the dishwasher is plugged in and turned on at the mains socket) I noticed when the kitchen light is off there are very faint illumination in the display of some parts when it should be totally blank. I don’t know if you can see it well in this picture:

And then when the dishwasher is on and working a digit is nearly missing (but not totally) in the 8 segment LED in the middle digit top – (its supposed to say 0:44 – see the digit nearly out? – and also the rinse aid nearly lit and there was rinse aid in the compartment, and the half load LED nearly lit but half load not selected):

if this was a digital clock or something I was attempting to repair I would say it was a resistor or couple of resistors need changing , but the components on this board are so tiny I dont think i would even attempt to solder it, I’ve not got too steady hand and brilliant eye-site these days.

not bothering me too much at the moment , but I have been on the net and loads of parts seem to be for sale for this kenwood dishwasher , so if one day I did want to replace the component , would I be looking at replacing the display panel or buying the control panel PCB at the bottom of the dishwasher (accessible from taking plastic cover off the bottom of the dishwasher where the PCB is) – assuming that maybe the LED display is getting its power from the PCB at the bottom of the dishwasher or is it a component(s) on the back of the LED display unit PCB at the top of the dishwasher?

    Many thanks,
    Andy.

welcome to the modern world where all appliances are in standby and drawing current 24/7 unless its off at the plug

not much you can do unless you want to change boards and even then it may not stop it

you can check the boards for signs of water ingress that may be shoring the board slightly
