I have just replaced the heater element, to do this I laid the machine on its side, I got error code e4, so I removed the filter and cleared out all of the water
Tried again and I still have e4.
I can’t find a easy drain plug on the front kick plate
Am I missing something or do I Have to pull it out again?

looks like an anti flood code

you say replaced the heater did you try it and look for leaks before you put it back

check underneath where the heater is
if its flooded you have a leak
if its not take a good look at the float switch and make sure its operating correctly

I always run them with the covers off to test them first

    Saves a lot of work

    that’s not good

there normally is 2 poss reasons for that

1 there is a pressure switch on some machines that switch off the heater if there is no water in, poss blockage, find switch and look at tubes running to switch, there are 2 types of sw one type you can blow in to test the other will be destroyed if you do. so don’t try it until you send me a pic

2 there is a relay that controls the heater on the main pcb. check its no welded shut

I’m at work today, the machine works as it should, cycles, uses salt etc but will not heat up.
I’m assuming that any pressure switch would be ok
Where would the pcb be? In the door where the buttons are?

well re read post and the way you put it was confusing

you are saying you changed the heater but did you check the old one to make sure it had gone ?

if old heater ok then possible heater relay on the main board, if old heater blown you need to check if your new heater has blown. What I am trying to find out if the unit turned the heater on when its empty and blew the thermal protection fuses thereby destroying the heater

    Let me start again…
I assumed it was the heater element, so I ordered another and fitted it yesterday, the old one looks exactly the same, I have not used a multimeter as I can’t find it.
The dishwasher works fine as to the programs but no hot water
I realise I should have tested it, but I assumed what it was

ah ok so the old unit may not have been the problem in the first place, you need to check that first

if its ok my next port of call will be the relay on the main pcb that controls it after checking for broken wires from the heater to the board

    Thanks Dave,
    I realise I’m a numpty
Is the main pcb in the door?

should be, which is why I said to check for broken wires first as they can break at the bottom of the door

Day off today and just tested the door wires, they are all OK
I have the pcb exposed, what should I look for now please?
