    I think the fan is damaged and rubbing on the casing but I can’t get the fan cover off. I’ve removed the visible screws from the front and 2 at the back of the casting but it still seems solidly attached. Are there hidden screws somewhere or is it glued on? I’ve done Kirby vacuum cleaners before but not for a few years so I’ve forgotten 😕

    Got it apart. It seems the front casting does not come off, you have to take the motor out to get at the fan.
