Been to an install today that Currys wouldn’t touch. Customer previously had a fused spur to the washer, but when new kitchen was fitted he got rid of the spur, pulled the mains lead up inside the channel, behind the tiles, and terminated it directly to a COOKER SWITCH telling the customer it was a stronger switch than the old one which wouldn’t stay on (i.e he fitted a faulty switch and only had a cooker type in his toolbox to replace it). My question is, under part P regs can I replace the fused spur to install the washing machine.

My understanding is you are OK to replace sockets and add additional sockets/switches/light fittings.

The restriction is you can not add a new ‘circuit’.

Talking of Kichen Fitter Classic’s – went to one about 6mths ago where the kitchen fitter put all the taps, waste outlet and socket in a cupboard next to washing machine then fixed the door shut with “no nails” or something like that so it was impossible to open and isolate machine – think there must be somthing in the regs about that one!!! :rolls:

Oh.. kitchen fitters – first on my list for room 101..
