Went to a WFO2865GB/01 w/machine on Wednesday, complaint being a knocking noise as it accelerates at low speed into spin. Once it gets about 300rpm the noise dissappears 😕
I could not pin-point the noise but it appeared to be most noticable as I felt the L/hand shocker (the vibration within the damper body was consistance with the knocking noise) and away I went and ordered a new Shocker :tup:
Went back yesterday and fitted it (It requires drilling out the moulded retaining plug in the front drum half and fitting a mod bolt kit 😯 ) After I had done that, guess what :con: ………….it hadn’t cured the problem 😥
Buggered if I know what the problem is? As the knocking noise and vibration is closest to that damper fixing between the 2 drum halfs, I guess it must be the outer drum…..DUNNO?
I doubt anyone has come across this fault before, but it’s worth asking 😀

Seen similar Martin, especially on the Antonio Merloni machines where the damper plate spot weld or two breaks off, gives a kind of chattering noise but usually on the higher spins.

I agree with Ken, but Ive never seen it with an Exxcel/Maxx.
I have had similar sounds with the LG, was lateral play in the bearing, sorry can’t be any more help.Regards

Hi, best check if there is a modified plastic on the upper part of the front panel as without this the panel vibrates, causing noise to be generated.

Thanks for your help so far guys. I really did suspect this too, especially in that when I disconnected the damper from the cabinet, the noise ceased. Refitted the damper to the cabinet mount and the noise returns BUT I swear to god the noise comes from the darned drum end of the damper :con:
The damper bracket on the cabinet spot weld is as solid as the Eiffel Tower and no noise, vibration or anything comes from it… honest 🙄
…I’m stumped :tdown:
and my customer well miffed as it has cost him several quid so far for nowt 👿

Went to another Bosch today (WFL2260UK/04) that makes this knocking noise but only at around 800rpm. A fraction below and above that speed it stops completely and ramps up to maximum with no problem. 😕
Like the one I went to back in 2005 it appears to come from the damper mount fixing on the drum? Knowing that Bosch supply a different set of dampers (448032) where you have to drill out the plastic tub mounting and fit a nut & bolt in its place, I gave up on that idea though. Suggesting to the customer not to worry about the noise (which doesn’t happen on every wash by the way 😕 ) and let me know should it get any worse. :rolls:
So, I wonder if anyone else has any experience with this problem?

Not sure if this will be relevant but had a heck of a problem locating a knocking noise on a Hotpoint WM series a little while back. Turned out to be the aluminium bearing housing moving slightly in the plastic outer tub.

Yes, changed the susp leg and all was OK. Bit of pain 😕 if I remember right you need a 12.5mm drill?

Hi,
Had this on a Maxx I supplied earlier this year. I too thought it was the suspa and told customer to contact Bosch. Their engineer called and said they had probs with out of aligned cabinet, he changed cabinet and all was well.
Not heard of it since but thats what their engineer said.
