Knocking Bosch.

Complaint of noise when going into spin.

I tried it with a bad load ( one large bathmat ) and TBH it wasn’t that bad.

Customer says it is normally worse.

I may be mistaken but I seem to remember reading a year or two ago about a problem with the suspension units causing knocking on Bosch machines.
Was I imagining it, if not is this one of the models that does suffer from this fault?

Is the drum suspended on a crossways tie bar or are the springs hooked into the topside of the cabinet ? ( just come back from a few days away and can’t be ar*ed to fire up my laptop yet 🙂 )

Most of the knocking noises i’ve had on these machines has been caused by the springs jumping in a groove thats produced over time. The noise is more predominant at slow speeds and will disappear as the spin speed increases.

On the tie-bar set up , i normally lever up the spring where it hooks into the tie bar , clean and re-lubricate well before lowering the spring/tub .

On the springs that hang on the side of the cabinet , there are two plastic bushings available that hook under the spring ends to provide a smooth suspension point.

You can normally tell if this is the fault by removing the lid , and pressing down on either side of the tub , by the springs , and you may hear it go ‘bedoing’ !!!

Thanks for replies chaps.

It doesn’t have the crossbar, springs just hooked into the cabinet sides.

I did give the drum the full press down treatment but couldn’t replicate any noises.

The very slight noise I heard did appear to be more low down rather than at the top of the machine.

I will check out the spring support bushes for any signs of wear.

Jim, if it’s got square dampers, they knock. The replacement damper is a round rather more substantial jobbie with a bolt and various spacers. You’ll need a drill for the plastic pin. In and out in 30 mins when you figure it out.

BSH say that there isn’t a problem.

Personally, I’ve only ever fitted two sets of shockers in over ten years 😉

Thanks, I will check out the suspension springs and dampers, can’t be sure but I think it had round ones already.

To test if shockers smear them with grease. If it quietens down the shockers have play where the rod goes into spring unit. My wfr2860 knocks its head off with the round type. must get round to doin them. 😆
