ParticipantHello,
Got a Lamona (LAM2502 push button) extraction/recirculation hood (4 years old) that won’t switch off. The on/off button on far LHS isn’t doing its job so instead of switching it off it will now revert to fan speed 1 when trying to switch off. Stripped it all down and have seen little sparks (when switching) through the clear acrylic cover so don’t know if its the button module or PCB unit that lies above. Can’t find any loose wires either.
I’ve taken a few pics but they won’t upload due to file sizeAny help appreciated
Thanks
Danny

Lamona is a brand name of Howdens joinery. some stuff is made by Beko but this is not
your pictures would be useful to see what your talking about

Yeah thanks Dave its a Howdens kitchen. A guy at a local appliance repair shop said it was coming up on his laptop as a rebadged Hoover….how do I upload the pics? as it keeps saying file size too big. Its just a cheap digi camera.

as you can see I altered your original post to add pictures
cant tell a lot from the photo angles. pcb looks more like a connection block than serious electronics. would have to see if there are any components on the board as all I can see is wires from the photo
the switch bank normally with this kind of bank you push each successive switch in and the one before pops out. when you push the off switch they all pop out switching it off. the fact you say you saw a spark add to the theory these switches are taking the full load of the motor

Yeah sorry Dave its a connection block and the switch bank operates as you say…..so I either 1) get a sparky in to diagnose and buy/fit needed part/s…..2) take a gamble that its the switch bank and replace (about £20) 3) get a new hood……penny for your thoughts?
Thanks for posting the pics though they’re not much help.

Well in the end it’s up to you but
A £20 gamble sounds a good bet against
At least a £50 bill plus parts for an engineer or new hood and poss redecoration for what the new hood does not hideJust make sure you take plenty of clear pictures of the wiring before you swap it

Pleased to say Dave that the switching bank was the problem (£23 delivered the Hoover/Candy part wasn’t available on ‘ukwhitegoods’), the biggest problem was the holes (for wires) in the stainless inner casing being faaaaaaaar too small, had to take one out to get one in, if you know what I mean. Working fine now. Thanks for your input otherwise I would have bought a Lamona (wrong) part.
